Record Store Day 2012 Black Friday Exclusive! Clubroot's eponymous debut gets a much needed repress on solid white vinyl! If you missed out on the original 2009 vinyl version (which was limited to 450 copies), consider this your second chance so don't blow it. Our original review from '09: The Impressive release from Clubroot on stateside dubstep LoDubs. This album was getting all sorts of head-turns and record checks in the office today, and with good reason. Clubroot's brand of dubstep appeals to the senses with its deep and moody vibe, easily drawing lots of comparisons to Burial's much-lauded style. The dramatic composition and moody atmospherics are a great match for the upcoming cold season (or for the more sensitive dubsteppers), and the clean and intricate rhythms are easy to get used to (much easier than Burial's often abstract and lo-fi style). Essential listening for Burial fans especially. Limited, hand numbered pressing of 200. Highly Recommended.

Limited edition 150 gram vinyl pressing for Record Store Day 2013! Codeine's What About The Lonely captures the band at the height of their career. Recorded direct from the mixing board at a stop on Codeine's November 1993 swing through the Midwest opening for Mazzy Star, the album finds the trio of Stephen Immerwahr, John Engle, and Doug Scharin running through their hits at Chicago's notorious Lounge Ax for a crowd of chatty 120 Minutes fans. Gastr Del Sol's David Grubbs joins for two songs on guitar, slinking on and off the two foot stage with little fanfare, but leaving an indelible mark on the performance.

Limited edition pressing for Record Store Day 2013! Conny Plank was a German record producer and musician who left an indelible mark on postwar European popular music. He covered a wide range of genres including progressive, avant-garde, electronic music and krautrock. The immense catalog that was left in his wake has greatly influenced modern studio production and engineering techniques. Throughout his career he worked with bands including Kraftwerk, Neu!, Cluster, Harmonia, Night Sun, Ash Ra Tempel, Holger Czukay of Can and Guru Guru. He had a strong influence over the New Wave period in the late 1970s and 1980s as well. Featured on The Conny Plank reWork Sessions are four Plank productions, including one from his ongoing collaboration with Dieter Moebius, that have been remixed just for this release.

Classico. I knew I had to review this, so I went back home and gave it a full listen with headphone level at damaging levels. I forgot how generally awesome this whole album was. They invented and perfected the mix of stoner anthems and jump-up gangsta tracks. I love how Muggs takes classic drum loops and squeezes the most out of them… a master of drum enhancement. If this was a part of your life in the distant past, you'll be instantly warped back in time with the opening quartet of "I Wanna Get High, I Ain't Goin Out Like That, Insane In The Brain," and "When The Ish Goes Down." High quality double 180 vinyl NUMBERED gatefold edition for Record Store Day 2013.

The track features a playful house feel topped off with euphoric vocals by Milosh. David Bowie channeling The Stones! Back in 1973 Bowie had cemented his reputation as a superstar. He was touring with The Spiders from Mars and writing his follow up to the immensely successful Ziggy Stardust while on the road. He told NME that with "The Jean Genie" he "wanted to get the same sound the Stones had on their very first album on the harmonica." The result was timeless, blues heavy and slightly askew from the glam rock Bowie had cultivated with Ziggy Stardust. Included on the b-side is the recently recovered BBC Top Of The Pops performance of "The Jean Genie" from January 1973. Both cuts have been faithfully remastered by original Trident engineer Ray Staff. Limited edition 7" picture disc.

Limited edition hand screened pressing for Record Store Day 2013! Numero Group has reached into the vaults to bring you the beginnings of seminal post rockers Unwound. Here is what they have to say about this stellar release: The first volley in our massive Unwound reissue campaign lands as Big Baby, a previously unreleased album's worth of material that the band cut in 1990 while still students at Tumwater High, operating as a trio under the Giant Henry moniker. "Tumwater High has always been known as a 'redneck' school," guitarist/vocalist Justin Trosper reflects in the album's liner notes. "People took football and AC/DC equally seriously. The smoking area was rich in facial hair. We were into punk rock, but we weren't really 'punk.' We thought punk was funny. After all this was the late '80s. Post-punk was a memory, and everything was totally damaged and weird. We were kind of more with the times than the catalog-punks with mohawks and bondage pants." Recorded in original Unwound drummer Brandt Sandeno's parents' basement over a weekend in the winter of 1991, the 12-track, vinyl-only Big Baby captures Vern Rumsey and Justin Trosper in their Metal Circus and Bleach-influenced halcyon days. In true DIY spirit, we've hand-screened the entire pressing of 1050 LPs, with three cover variants featuring Justin, Vern, and Brandt looking too young even for Tumwater High.

Four decades after the release of the Dead's iconic live album, Europe '72, comes the follow up. Filled with live recordings from their tour of Europe in the spring of '72, Europe '72 Volume 2 features 2 1/2 more hours of the Grateful Dead in their element. Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux was charged with the task of developing this follow-up compilation, without repeating any of the songs that appeared on Europe '72. And while Europe '72 Volume 2 may not have the Dead standards featured on the original triple-LP, it is hardly short on familiar Dead numbers. There's the nearly hour long psychedelic excursion on "Dark Star" and "The Other One" that takes up all of the third LP. It also features "Big Railroad Blues" which is exclusive to the vinyl release. For anyone that is a fan of the loose performance style and long jams of the Dead should wrap their ears around Europe '72 Volume 2. Limited edition 180 gram 4LP pressing.

Here's something for all the Dead Heads out there! Never before released jams recorded during one of their shows at San Francisco's legendary Winterland Arena on May 30th, 1971. This was the second of a two night stint for the band. For those not familiar, Winterland was the venue that famed concert promoter Bill Graham turned to after he closed The Filmore West. Over the years it played host to everyone from Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones to Led Zeppelin, Queen, and the final show of the Sex Pistols. Needless to say, Live At Winterland captures a legendary San Francisco band at the height of their career at a legendary San Francisco venue. The songs maybe familiar, but the takes and the adlibs are unique to the moment. The album was mastered from the original 7½ i.p.s. reels of quarter-track ¼ tape. Limited edition gatefold 180 gram 2LP.
