Lab Overview

Previously released only on CD, this 1957 performance gets the Doxy Audiophile Clear Vinyl treatment in an edition of 500 numbered copies (Doxy also released a black vinyl version in early 2014). Interesting backstory here, this recording was found in the Library of Congress, untouched until 2005, and was restored by producer Michael Cuscuna and T.S. Monk (Thelonious Monk's son). Already in demand amongst jazz collectors, this record captures the twin geniuses in full flight, performing Monk favorites such as "Monk's Mood, Blue Monk," and "Epistrophy" in one of NYC's hallowed music halls.
