Built-in 24bit/96kHz USB Sound card

An integrated high performance USB sound card enables up to four inputs/outputs simultaneously with no deterioration in sound quality. The DJM-900nexus is a high performance digital mixer designed for today's professional DJ performers. An ideal combination with Pioneer's latest CDJ line of players, the DJM-900nexus offers a multitude of new features that includes a variety of onboard effects, increased sound quality, and direct PC or Mac connection to enable any DJ to perform to their utmost potential.

Multitude of Effects

The DJM-900nexus follows Pioneer's traditional control layout enabling an easy transition to the mixer. As with other Pioneer mixers, the DJM-900nexus features a variety of advanced sound effects that allow DJs to have more creative expressions while mixing their music. Three new Sound Color FX, two Beat Effects and an X-Pad control were added to the mixer to enhance the user's performance.

• Sound Color FX - The DJM-900nexus includes Space, Dub Echo and Gate/Comp in addition to Filter, Crush and Noise for its Sound Color FX. At any time with a simple twist of the knobs, DJs can quickly add their choice of audio effects bringing numerous combinations and arrangements to currently played music.
• Beat Effect - A total of 13 effects, including two new ones called Spiral and Melodic, can be added by the user at any time to the beat effects is accomplished through a selectable knob located on the right side of the mixer. - X-Pad - A touch screen control bar that enables quick access, control, and manipulation of the thirteen built-in beat effects. With a touch and/or slide of the X-Pad control, the user can change the parameters of each effect for further creativity in performances.

Sound Quality

Part of the DJM-900nexus's design attribute is combining functionality with great sound quality. The mixer utilizes high quality components that ensure the best possible audio output when connected to other components.

• Built-in 24bit/96kHz High Performance USB Sound card - Pioneer developed an onboard USB sound card that can simultaneously handle input and output audio signals from up to four (4) stereo sources through a single USB port1. The sound card supports 24-bit/96kHz high resolution signal processing, and can input and output all audio signals with no degradation of sound quality. Once connected to a PC or Mac, the settings utility tool can be used to customize the mixer's output signal path to suit various purposes, such as DJ play, song recording or production2. Furthermore, smooth transfers between DJs are possible with the easily accessible USB ports on the top surface of the mixer.
• Sound Quality Design - The DJM-900nexus is equipped with the same audio input and output circuits as Pioneer's flagship DJM-2000 to achieve the most accurate audio reproduction from connected sources. The 32-bit digital to analog converter supports all outputs of the mixer, including the master audio outputs, booth outputs as well as headphones. Additionally, the built-in high performance 32-bit digital signal processor (DSP) suppresses any digital and analog circuit noise by way of high quality balanced hybrid operation amps and full balanced output circuits.

Connection

With more DJs continuing to use their personal computers as part of their rig, the new DJM-900nexus is ready for a direct connection to a laptop PC or Mac, increasing its convenience and functionality.

• PRO DJ LINK - Via an Ethernet (LAN) cable, the mixer can quickly link to the latest Pioneer PRO DJ LINK compatible CDJ-2000 and CDJ-900 players (with firmware version 4.00 or later) or a personal computer running Pioneer's rekordbox software, giving users fast access to a song's beats per minute (BPM) and beat location information, resulting in a precise beat matching capability. Furthermore, the built-in quantize mode compensates for Beat Effect operation timing errors automatically, so effects are matched perfectly.
• TRAKTOR Functionality - Using a USB connection with a PC or Mac, the four decks (players) inside TRAKTOR can be connected simultaneously with the mixer, enabling enhanced flexibility with the software. In addition, the mixer is also TRAKTOR SCRATCH4 certified for TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO / DUO 2, allowing scratch control functionality when using a time code disc. - Time Code Output - Through its USB port, the mixer can output time code disc signals for DVS (Digital Vinyl System) software when used with a Pioneer CDJ player or analog record player. OVERVIEW

Rodec has been in the game longer than most (since 1954!) and have a reputation for the highest quality sound, headroom, and EQ. They've teamed up with some of the world's best scratch DJs to put together the Scratch Box a high end scratch mixer with all the features modern turntablists need and the top notch sound quality Rodec is famous for.

FEATURES

The Scratch box is a 4 channel mixer (2 phono/4 line) with FX return, session and backtape in. Technically speaking this thing is a beast with powerful triple tone EQs, cut switches, smooth and silky faders, and reverse switches for everything (check the long list of features below for specifics). OVERVIEW

Vestax's 06-Pro is a proven 2-channel mixer with a slim profile and high quality VCA crossfader and components. The 06-Pro has been a Vestax bestseller for over 10 years because of its price, profile, and straight-forwardness.

FEATURES

The 06-Pro is a basic 2-channel (2 phono + 2 line inputs) mixer designed with the active DJ in mind (scratch + mixing). It features a very slim design (designed by Shortkut of ISP) to bring the distance between your tables to a minimum. This is especially helpful for trick mixing and juggling. It features a replaceable CF-PCV crossfader with curve control, which is the same high quality fader used in higher priced models. It was also the first mixer to introduce the innovative "hamster switch" that allows you to reverse the channel inputs to suit your scratch preference. Basic features include a 2-band EQ as well as gain and pan on each channel as well as replaceable volume faders and multi-directional input (transformer) switch. There is no mic input.

OUR OPINION

If you're looking to purchase a quality dj mixer on a budget, you can't get much better than the 06 in terms of reliability and value. The lack of a mic channel and mid-channel EQ would be the only minuses, but its over quality, unique design and clean layout more than make up for those.

The VCI-380 is a robust 2 channel DJ controller from Vestax, specifically designed for use with Serato ITCH. As an upgrade from their previous ITCH controller (the VCI-300), the VCI-380 adds a wealth of new and improved features including touch/velocity sensitive pads for control loops and samples, touch sensitive ribbon strips, high end adjustable jog wheels with embedded LED needle points, and stand alone mixer capabilities for mixing with turntables, CD-Js, or other media players. All this in a sturdy (mostly metal construction), compact unit that can endure the rigors of gigging on the road.

In addition, advanced software and FX control features are embedded into the VCI-380's layout. Use the pads to control creative Performance Modes such as Slicer, Roll, Sampler, Loop, Hot Cue and Pad FX, or use the ribbon controllers to alter the parameters of Pad FX, swipes, holds and needle drops tracks. The filter FX knob doubles as a Hi-Pass filter when using the unit as a stand alone mixer, and enjoy the convenience of top quality sound at all times via low latency, high-resolution 24bit / 48kHz soundcard and XLR outs. LAB REVIEW

With the VCI-400, Vestax has decided to forgo the software specific hardware design and go for the an all-out controller that is fully customizable and works well with all the most popular DJ programs (Traktor, Serato DJ Intro, Virtual DJ, Abelton, DJay, and more). Vestax has definitely shifted the focus to high quality functionality with enough controls and features to accommodate future software updates.

The VCI-400 does an excellent job in delivering both the flashy deluxe features (lighted pad controls, LED channel meters, wide assortment of controls) and the solid foundational features (high quality jog controls, XLR outputs, excellent soundcard). In addition, the design is very intuitive with all the controls placed seemingly perfectly and marked clearly. Although there is a lot going on, it all makes sense like the placement of the tempo controls with the deck select directly underneath.

OUR OPINION

Although the price point may be barrier for the beginner or novice DJ, we can see this being a longtime workhorse for the working DJ. The feature set eliminates the need for MIDI add-ons and with its high-quality soundcard and XLR outputs, you're ready to plug it into a club system. In addition, we just love the true 4 channel layout, the filter knobs, and the layout (it definitely borrows from a traditional turntable-mixer setup).

OVERVIEW

The VMC-002XLu is the upgraded version of the popular (and now discontinued) VMC-002XL mixer. This new version gets a sleek black finish and adds a USB port for easy connectivity to your computer. It features a simple, durable 2 channel design, upgradable crossfader, and XLR outputs that get you professional level connectivity at a very inexpensive price. 

FEATURES

The VMC-002XLu is your basic entry level, 2 channel mixer, beefed up in terms of sound quality and durability and now the addition of a USB port. The USB port is a great since you can bypass the need for an interface and record vinyl or mixes directly into your computer (recording software needed). It has 2 phono and 2 line inputs (channel 1 and channel 2), plus 1 microphone input with volume control. Each channel has trim adjustment and 3 band EQs that go from completely off (kill) to +6dB. The crossfader is an ALPS fader (upgradeable to the CF-PCV) with a curve control switch on the front panel for "soft" or "sharp" crossfading. It also has a master/cue mix knob so you can practice in the headphones. As mentioned before, one of the main attractions of this mixer is the option for professional XLR outputs, which allow you to send a higher quality signal to any piece of equipment. The VMC-002XL also offers a standard RCA out, which you could use for your "record" out. 

OPINION

The VMC-002XL gives you excellent mid-level quality and features at a very economical price. It's an ideal choice for most non-club situations (home and small studio), and with its three band EQs and XLR outs could even be used in a club if you were in a pinch. Its compact size won't take up too much space, and it has all the necessary features for most djs (and digital DJs now with the addition of a USB port). Scratch DJs will like possibility of upgrading to a PCV crossfader and there really isn't much more you can ask for at this price range. Recommended.
