Six cult classic out-of-print albums from the prolific & iconic Fela Kuti! Following previous installments curated by Ginger Baker, Questlove, Erykah Badu, Brian Eno and Chris Martin, Fela Box #6 includes 6 of the Black President's albums carefully selected by actor, DJ, producer and rapper (and Stringer!) Idris Elba. Knitting Factory Records have done a fine job keeping Kuti's most in-demand records in print; case in point - 1971's Open & Close, reissued in 2021 and included here. With the exception of a pair of super limited RSD editions in 2016, the rest of the LPs in this set have never been repressed on vinyl since their original release in the 1970s and 80s. Includes the albums Open & Close, Music of Many Colors (Feat. Roy Ayers), Stalemate, I Go Shout Plenty!!!, Live In Amsterdam, and Opposite People, each packaged in its own full-color sleeve with carefully recreated artwork and center labels. Also includes a 16" x 24" poster designed by Nigerian artist Lemi Ghariokwu (he designed 29 of Kuti's album covers), plus a 24-page full-color booklet with lyrics, commentaries by Afrobeat historian Chris May, never before seen photos and introduction from Idris Elba. Limited to 5000 sets worldwide, recommended!
