Lab Overview

Official repress! Originally released in 1976 on the legendary Strata East imprint, The Heath Brothers' Marchin' On! has become one of those sought-after records that never pops up, living up to its hype as a digger's grail. Heads will immediately recognize "Smilin' Billy Suite Part II" as the source to Nas' classic "One Love" with Q-Tip, which would probably validate the O.G.'s high price tag, but don't let that be the only reason you pick this up. The entirety of the Heath Brothers' debut is filled with numerous sample-ready moments, but it also stands on its own as a masterful jazz piece. Check the warm, fluid moods of "Maimoun," the introspective "Smilin' Billy Suite Part III," or the soothing "Warm Valley." Official 2017 reissue by Everland Jazz, licensed by Strata East. Recmmended.
