La Resistance! Second of three compilations collecting Stereolab’s 7” and 10” output from the 90s. Originally released in 1995 on Duophonic, Refried Ectoplasm features increased presence of synthesizers and experimental production techniques compared to their early singles. Contains rarities from a number of singles released in collaborations with other artists on various labels, including two collaborations with Nurse With Wound ("Exploding Head Movie" and "Animal or Vegetable”) and rare tracks from split releases with Unrest (“Mountain”) and Spectrum ("Tone Burst”). Also check out “Lo Boob Oscillator” and “Tempter” (originally released on a Sub Pop 7-inch), and the great “French Disko.” The Switched On series is a great point of entry for anyone looking to explore beyond Laetitia Sadler & co’s studio albums; we suggest all three, but check out Switched On Vol. 2 if you’re partial to the sound of Emperor Tomato Ketchup. Official reissue on limited edition clear double vinyl, available for the first time in 23 years. Remastered at Calyx in Berlin and released on the band’s own Duophonic imprint, recommended.
