Stan Getz AKA "The Sound" recorded Jazz Samba at the acoustically-warm Pierce Hall of All Souls Unitarian Church in Washington D.C. The 1962 recording was finished in one day, and although jazz musicians had incorporated the rhythms of Brazil into earlier works, this body of work is the first "full-fledged Bossa Nova album ever recorded by American jazz musicians." Jazz Samba would propel Getz's career to new, unexpected heights, and witnessing the commercial success of the LP, many more Bossa Nova albums from his contemporaries followed. Features Charlie Byrd on guitar (soloist), Gene Byrd & Keter Betts on bass, and buddy Deppenschmidt & Bill Reichenbach on percussion. Check out "Desafinado," "Samba De Uma Nota So (One Note Samba)," "E Luxo So," and "Samba Triste." This is a part of the Leloir Collection, a limited retrospective series of some of the best jazz albums of all time with new artwork incorporating Jean-Pierre Leloir's iconic photography.
