Maybe the best album from J. Spaceman's Spiritualized. At least that seems to be what the critics thought. We'll let the fans argue amongst themselves. Whatever the case, Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space stood out amongst the Britpop from bands like Blur and Oasis that were big at the time. After rising out of the ashes of Spacemen 3, Spiritualized's first two albums were heavy on the shoegaze sound. For Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space the band took influences from all over the map and created something truly unique. African American gospel and blues started to show through the walls of sound. The production techniques of Phil Spector and Brian Wilson were heavily present as well. There can be so much going on at one time but somehow it all works perfectly together. One track builds to an adrenalin burn peak and the next one lets you down perfectly. Elvis pops up, but only to say hi as you both trip out on your despair together. A lot of drugs have been done and a lot of love has been made to this record. This 2016 pressing comes on double colored vinyl (in beautiful "deep space" blue and "milky way" white) with printed inners and "patient product info" sheet.
