Lab Overview

Originally released in 1981, Sly & The Family Stone: Anthology is reissued on 180g, translucent red vinyl. A comprehensive collection of hits from the legendary "integrated, multi-gender" group that was instrumental in expanding funk, soul, rock and psychedelic genres, the album contains, in chronological order of release, all the essential cuts. Starting off the collection is "Dance to the Music" from the eponymous 1968 album, and the album finishes with "Que Sera Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)," a cover of Doris Day, from 1973's Fresh. Inserted in between are tracks like "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)," "Family Affair," "If You Want Me To Stay," "I Want To Take You Higher," "Everyday People," "Sing a Simple Song," and "Hot Fun in the Summertime," and whether you're a seasoned fan trying to fill in some missing points or rather new to the group, this compilation will hit all the right notes.
