Bedroom indie-pop breakout hit on vinyl for the first time. Many thanks to the power of the internet for this gem seeing the vinyl light of day! Hailing from Bergen, Norway is Nicolás Pablo Rivera Muñoz, who has been penning and producing witty indie pop out of his bedroom since 2015 under the moniker boy pablo. Almost a year after releasing the debut album/EP Roy Pablo in 2017 to fairly quiet response, boy pablo caught a break when their single "everytime" was posted on Reddit and subsequently went viral, now clocking in with over 16 million + views. The video is simple, catchy, and somewhat silly, basically Muñoz and his band mates (who he plays with live) playing the song along a picturesque Norwegian bank, squinting into the sun. And while luck played a roll in their initial breakout, it's the sheer skill and talent of Muñoz that carries the album. With beautiful chords and harmonies, it's an extremely relaxing and relatable outing that captures a youthful spirit and the struggles of internet-age relationship woes. Sounding a bit like Mac Demarco or Mild High Club, this album likely remain close to your table for multiple listens. Tracks to check out are the aforementioned "everytime," "Ready/Problems," and "Dance, Baby!" 6 tracks in all, pressed on clear vinyl and released by U OK? Recommended.
