Now on clear vinyl! Essential material from the legendary Mt. Vernon crew. From the Eddie Kendricks loop topped by "clap your hands" scratching that leads off "Good Life," this is pure hip hop magic. Pete Rock and CL had made a little noise before this EP dropped with a couple remixes and guest spots, but this is the one that dropped hard like a fat girl at the roller rink. The seed that a thousand producers and emcees grew from, Pete's treats are textbook and trendsetting, using loops of now-essential (then unknown) beat digging manna like S.O.U.L. (on "Go With the Flow"), O'Donel Levy ("Mecca and the Soul Brother") and Lou Donaldson ("All Souled Out"). CL's flow is like no other, and so suited to the production that it's hard to imagine anyone else riding these rhythms, unless it's the chocolate boy wonder himself, as he does with laidback nonchalance on the neck-snapping anthem "The Creator." Add a remix of "Good Life" not available elsewhere, and you should really have no questions about the value of this 6 track EP. Full color OG sleeve reproduction.
