Lab Overview

If any of you think that Camp Lo was a one hit wonder with "Luchini," well you may be right. However, that doesn't dismiss the fact they put out one of the strongest (my personal favorite) albums in mid 90s hip-hop. The blaxploitation influenced Uptown Saturday Night LP didn't just have a few listenable tracks, EVERY song remains in my top 50 headphone/jeep bumpers (Ed. note: slightly suspect Kev, since this was one of your first ventures outside of K-Pop, but we can let it slide- it's a good album). "Black Nostaljack" is one of those tracks that makes you feel straight-up cool. It's a prime example of Ski production; soulful samples (this one uses Curtis Mayfield "Tripping Out") with drums that hit. Although Sonny Cheeba & Geechie Suede aren't the most understandable MCs, their flow & delivery is ridiculous. If you're a fan of the Dymond Crooks, then you know their remixes are always hotter than the originals, and Reverend Run and Kid Capri guest over this "Beats to the Rhyme" rework. What more can I say?
