Black Sheep's classic full length debut from '91 back on wax!. I was one of those people who passed up A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing, pissed that it didn't have the video version of "Choice Is Yours," but listening to it now, it's like KMD's Mr. Hood - the album is near perfect and yet you never hear it. The last of the Native Tongue peoples came out this time as the witty flow of Dres and sugar dick daddy Mr Lawnge on the beats, without much assistance from the crew (other than one shitty Q-tip verse). The beats are consistently high class on the entire LP, clean jazz loops in the best East Coast tradition. Lawnge speaks on his little man a little too much but if you like the playful crude style he does bring it with lines like "I put gum in my ass cuz I like to pop shit. I never even heard "U Mean I'm Not," one of the funniest takes on the studio gangsta ever. You know it gets to the point where you gotta shoot your sister in the knees for using your toothbrush just to keep it rolling... Wolf In Sheep's Clothing also contains the cult classics "Choice is Yours," "Have U.N.E. Pull," crew cut "Pass the 40" feat Chi Ali, "Strobelight Honey," "Similak Child" and "Butt in the Meantime." Super nice double vinyl pressing from Get On Down, you need this.
