San Francisco 'dark music' label, The Flenser, has put us onto some shit - Have A Nice Life, Planning For Burial, Chat Pile?! While conducting curiousity research on HANL, I found Giles Corey, the 2011 folk / slowcore solo project of HANL's Dan Barrett (named after a farmer who was 'pressed' during the Salem Witch Trials). I don't know what's in that Connecticut water, but this is BLEAK. However, it's not all overpowering - Dan's music is quite beautiful ⋆✴︎˚｡⋆☾𖤓. In moments, it has the ability to mask sentiments, however extreme (Elliott Smith comes to mind). I must have listened to 'Blackest Bile' 100 times this year (never in a negative mood). Dan only mentions the title once in the song, but it hits so hard that it reverberates across the track's remaining six minutes. If you like this type of song, you might be part of this unfortunate club. Need that 'Grave Filled With Books' merch (with 'No One Is Ever Gonna Want Me' on the back in small font).
