Another album of dreampop-influenced electronica from the critics' fave, Ulrich Schnauss. I hate to be one of those "If you like..." reviewers, but if you like lush electronics and the likes of My Bloody Valentine, Cocteau Twins, early Tangerine Dream, etc., this is right up your alley. Vocalist Judith Beck is again all over the album, and her breathy delivery suits Ulrich's style perfectly, coming across as ethereal when it would be so easy to sound corny and new age on tracks like "Never Be The Same(1)" and "Medusa(2)." Meanwhile, songs like "Stars(3)" and "Shine(4)" begin with similar glacial paces, but work up to something much bigger and emotive than you're used to hearing from this genre - Schnauss' sound is deeply rooted in pop music, and the result is electronic music that sounds unmistakably human. And that's a great thing. Don't trust the sound clips on this one - this album should be heard in full. 10 tracks; 2LP.
