I was actually gearing up to record all of my Rong records last week. I've been a pretty lazy DJ as of late. Most of the time laziness doesn't pay off but this time it did. The second CD on this comp is pack with 12 unmixed tracks, most of which I was planning on recording. Check out Barfly's "2 Copies(1)" and Tussle's "Disco D'Oro(2)." Both produced perfectly in the "sleepy disco style" as I like to call it. I could listen to this stuff for hours. Oh wait, I can actually listen to this stuff for hours. There's a blend/mix session on the first CD done up by DJ Spun which is a really good listen. Spun goes through all of the early staple Rong releases. On a "trying to keep it real" note I'd like to say that thank god Rong hasn't been on anyone's "blog house mixes" or "flavor of the month" lists. Rong is too good for that hipper than now mentality. To quote Language this is "real music for real people." Two of my favorite Rong tracks of all time are on this compilation, check DJ Harry's "Aquarium(3)" and Projections' "Outhere Instrumental(4)" both modern classics. Wolfy "Oh Missy(5)" is a really fun track as well, probably one of the more upbeat tracks on the compilation. Anyways, enjoy and also check out Lee Douglas' "New York Story" twelve also on Rong. Basically it's the best track that's been put out this year in my opinion.
