Mighty Dub Katz Just Another Groove (Tocadisco & Ashley Beedle Remixes) 12"

These reissues / remixes of mid-nineties dance hits are the perfect foil for the minimal techno trend that's going on these days. "It's Just Another Groove" aka "I Think We Should Get Back Together" was a huge 1995 happy... expand review house hit from the Mighty Dub Katz (aka Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim). This is the kind of shit you play in between "The Bomb" and "Around The World" to make the crowd jizz on each other. That's right, jizz. Listening to the 2008 remastered version(1), it sounds as fresh as ever, can't wait to hear this shit in the club again. Awesome remix selections too. Ashley Beedle(2) turns in a re-edit style remix, adding some rousing tribal sections to the original. Tocadisco(3) does a brilliant recontextualization by chopping up the original's vocal and adding modern synth work. Recommended. -the mgmnt

Guess that's what happens when Ministry of Sound is licensing your shit. This is the Data Records promo repress of Herve's massive single from last year, originally released on Dubsided but now sporting a spiffy... expand review new Count of Monte Cristal remix. (Yes, that's Herve remixing himself remixing Michael Jackson.) In true Dubsided style, "Cheap Thrills(1)" is 90% dirty, buzzing bassline and 10% ultra-catchy sample; when the two meet towards the end of the track and Herve starts freaking those synths, it's lights out. The Count's remix(2) takes it even further via gated, pulsing bass, yelping vocal snips and a Bmore tempo breakdown. Plays at 45. -Chris Lemon-Red

"Brazillian Rhyme(1)" needs no explanation - you all know this one. It appears here in a shortened interlude version (could've done with an extended version, but it's better than nothing). You... expand review also get "Fantasy(2)" in all its burning, soulful glory. This one is on some straight wedding crate status - real grown and lovely. Listen to this with your breezy on a yacht while sippin' on somethin' at sunset like a boss. Never seen this configuration of tracks on a 12" but at least the Columbia labels look pretty official. -snackmaster
