the patented lab review lab informed suggestions
Often when a label is slaying it on the level that DFA has been the past couple of months, backlash is inevitable. Luckily for DFA they won't receive backlash and it's for a good reason. They tend to create trends instead of follow them, and this Syclops release doesn't sway from that path. These guys (a three piece, produced by Maurice Fulton) have been around for a minute now, releasing their first 12" in 2001, and then two more on Tirk in 2005. They came back last year to help Maurice out on the Hot Chip remix of "Over & Over" and played on the super solid Kathy Diamond full length. So, you know, these dudes have been around, dipping hands in various pies and whatnot. The first track, "Where's Jason's K,"is some serious arpeggio, electro-boogie goodness that'll have the children doing the wet noodle on the dance floor. It sounds something like a rainbow bomb exploded! The flip, "Monkeypuss," is left fieldsville in the best way. Weirdo minimal pterodactyl house that is sure to frighten and confuse many a Becky near and far. As C'mish would say, "Soooooo jackin' brooo!". Recommended.
