OVERVIEW
The Nova mic was designed to produce a quality-sounding, dependable microphone as inexpensively as possible. By using US technology and select foreign components, M-Audio is once again able to offer us professional features at a very affordable price. The Nova's design aims to capture vocal recordings as clear and un-colored as possible, so the user gets out of the mic exactly what they put into it.
USES
- vocal recording
FEATURES
The Nova is a large diaphragm (1.1" evaporated gold) condensor mic with a fixed cardiod pattern. It is housed in a solid brass capsule and employs Class A-solid state electronics through out. The mic's frequency response ranges from 20 Hz-18 kHz with a loud output impedance of 200 ohms. It runs on the standard 48v of phantom power and includes a XLR cable, a hard mount and softcase.
OUR OPINION
Most home studio users find themselves only needing a basic microphone for recording vocal tracks. M-Audio recognized this and designed the Nova to especially meet those needs. Unless you plan to spend $500+ on a microphone, the Nova will be completely sufficient for everyday vocal recording in a project studio environment.
