OVERVIEW
The Axiom 61 is M-Audio's advanced USB mobile MIDI controller. This versatile controller has 61 keys (semi-weighted with assignable after touch) as well as 8 rubberized pads, 9 sliders, and 8 endless rotary knobs and more to put you in total control of your software studio. 20 non-volatile memory locations allow you to save your setups (with the bundled Enigma librarian editor software) and you can get started producing right away with Ableton Live Lite included.

Featuring 61 full size, semi-weighted keys and 8 MPC style pads for drumming and sample triggering, 9 sliders, 8 endless rotary knobs, and a large LCD display, the Axiom 61 has everything you need to get the most out of your MIDI software and hardware. In addition, the Axiom 61 also features 15 assignable buttons, pitch and mod wheels, a 10-key pad right on the front panel for direct, intuitive programming, and 9 dedicated front-panel function buttons to easily access common operations like preset / program change or MIDI channel +/-, octave +/-, and transpose +/-. 20 non-volatile memory locations instantly save and recall your favorite presetsâ€"and you can manage an entire preset library on your computer via SysEx dumps and the free included Enigma software editor/librarian for PC and Mac.
The Axiom 61 runs of a USB bus-powered MIDI interface (or optional power supply) , but also features standard MIDI in and out jacks for full integration with your other studio equipment. Also includes Ableton Live Lite so you can start producing right out of the box.
OUR OPINION
With features comparable to other popular USB MIDI controllers such as Akai's MPK-49 (drum pads, sliders, knobs), the Axiom is a great value for under $300. This 61 key version might detract from its portability, but will appeal to producers that like the freedom of more keys to perform with and the semi-weighted action gives it a great realistic piano feel.
