The result is an enlarged soundstage and less sound coloration. Hi-Fi Magazine says "Music flows through this...   expand review  headphone organically with irrepressible dynamics and bounce." The RS-1 is the Masterpiece of the Grado collection, the Top Of The Range product which oozes class both in looks and sound. Featuring handcrafted Mahongany earpieces made using an intricate curing process, Grado has been able to optimize the tonal quality. The...   expand review  RS1 uses dynamic transducers in an open-air configuration, the cups being open-backed. The result is a smooth, coherent sound with detailed dynamics. Frequency response ranges from 12-30 kHz and the drivers are matched to 0.05dB. Weighing 9oz, the headphones are an example of the wonder of mother nature with a gorgeous, honey-colored look. The RS1's are the only product ever nominated by STEREOPHILE for their "PRODUCT OF THE YEAR" distinction, two years in a row! -the mgmnt

The SR125 gets similar praise, if not more than the SR50 and SR80 models. The SR125 builds on the SR80s with an improved diaphragm and voice coil design and UHPLC (Ultra-high purity, long crystal) copper voice coil wire. The Diaphragms are put...   expand review  through a special 'de-stressing' process in order to enhance inner detail. Bass, midrange and treble are all more open. According to Grado, the SR125s have balance and character similar to the RS1 headphones (Grado's $700 model). -the mgmnt

The SR80 share all the same characteristics as the SR60, but with improved response. Construction wise, it utilizes a 4 conductor connecting cable and larger ear cushions, the result of which gives a "more open stage." The SR80s were the first headphones to be awarded the "Golden Note Award" from the Academy for the Advancement of High End Audio, as well as the Grand Prix Award from Audio Video magazine. Don't let the school lab look of the Grados mislead you. These are serious headphones designed for audiophiles and those who demand quality sound. The SR-60s in particular have gained a "legendary" status (given by stereo magazines), because of their incredibly low...   expand review  price and "vibrant fidelity." Fi Magazine called them "the greatest bargain in audio-dom... with a rich sound which can civilize even a cheap portable CD player." Stereophile magazine gave it both the Product of the Year award in accessories and budget component category. For practical applications, the SR-60s (as well as the SR80 and SR125) are excellent for home or portable use (works well with iPods), and in-house djing. (We wouldn't really recommend this for club djing because of low isolation and medium-build construction). The swiveling ear pieces are very conducive for cueing. I have also heard from several sources that Grados are excellent for headphone mastering. Grado defines the particular characteristics of the SR60 as: good bass, excellent resolution, very smooth sound. Comfort-wise the Grados are very light on the head with low pressure and comfortable foam ear pieces. Comes with 1/4" adaptor for mini plug. -the mgmnt

The new portable, street style headphones from Grado Labs. While these are definitely the most "commercially appealing" headphones we've seen from Grado, and might come as a shock to people used to Grado's subtle "substance over style" approach, you can rest assured...   expand review  that the only thing they've changed is the packaging. The iGrado's are built from a platform that uses the same drivers found in their popular SR60 headphones, which means you'll be getting the benefits of Grado's exceptional quality and sound clarity in a pair of headphones that are designed for everyday travel use. They are also quite loud when compared to other models in this price range. Out of all the headphones that we've carried & tested, Grado continues to be a Lab favorite for non-dj applications (feel great, sound great), and the best part is they offer something great in every price range. That tradition is easily met here, as the iGrado's sound better than anything else in the under $50 range. Note: these are the kind of headphones that are worn around the back of your neck (not the top of your head). -the mgmnt
