the patented lab review lab informed suggestions
Do you like bass? Do you like vocoders? Do you like electro? If you answered yes to any of these then get with this pronto! Not sure if B.O.S.E.'s 808 Bass Express album ever came out on vinyl format, but I'm damn glad we were able to get on digital. Similar to their "Spread The Word" album, this bad boy is loaded with tons of miami-bass/electrofunk goodness with ample 808's, lasers, vocoders, and BASS (minus the novelty samples of "Spread The..."). Crazy thing is I've never even heard ANY of these jams before (though I'm no electro expert), but the caliber is up there with a "Planet Rock" or "Egypt Egypt." Check the hype-bomb that is "Mr. DJ," the electro-303 bass action on "If You Want To Ride" and "Mission Bass," cut-up old school hip-hop styles on "Do You Like Bass," the Trans Europe Express alternative "808 Bass Express," and "Bass Repo Factory (which kind of sounds like a minimal bass version of Set It Off). And if you like your bass sans vocoder, there's also Beat-only versions to most of these. Sickness.
