Downtempo throwback! Check our original review from early 2000: "This is a current Lab favorite... ranks up there with our favorite downtempo works. This came out in 99, but was hard to find and had a $25+ price tag for the vinyl. Double LP collection of 15 tracks from the Major Force collective. The sound can be defined as breaks with weird sounds thrown in. They'll lay a foundation beat and then just start mixing in layers, voices, samples, electronic box tweakings, or whatever. The randomness of the composition is refreshing as it gives the songs a live performance feel. Checkout "Circling Round " to get a feel. "Mugen in the Morning" flips Teen Tonic like we always wanted and develops into an enjoyable cheesy sunrise ending. In fact, the Major Force style of ambient electronic noses mixed with breaks is very reminiscent of Pierre Henry. In the same vein, "Here Comes the Funky Monkey" and "Cup of Tea" are equally enjoyable. The second half is more electronic sounding and gets lost in places. At some points, the compositions become too dense, and the songs lose the sparse appeal of the earlier tracks. However, the spooked out "Soup or Salad" sticks to the formula and delivers complex drum programming and an ill electronic bassline. Overall anything that makes me think so much is good. A complete listen, one of the best chillout records around."
