Lab Overview

People are freaking out about this guy for a good reason. He makes fresh shit. If you know any of Kid Koala's other stuff, then you've probably been waiting to hear this record to get reissued. Don't worry tightpants, the record is the same weird nerd skratch funk as always. He uses turntables in a completely different way than anybody else, not really cut out of the classic "battle dj" mold, but he seems to be "using the turntable as an instrument" in a more direct way than just about anybody. Proof: check "Drunk Trumpet" for the ill kwala. You really got to pay attention to the song titles and dialogue snippets on here to get what he's doing. All the songs have themes or tell little stories through dialogue and skratching. The best is the "Bar Hopper" series of spliced dialogue story of every man's nightmare. "I think I may lay an egg at any moment". We cheated though, Kid explained a couple tracks to us but which made the interpretaions much easier. Not that it doesn't sound dope even if you don't understand it. Extra points go out to great packaging all done by Koala. Free MP3 download included.
