Lab Overview

Thievery Corporation's sophomore full length from 2000. This album was my go-to on my daily commute from Oakland to SF. At the time it was the perfect thing to pop on and just cruise and smoke to in the ride. The Mirror Conspiracy sounded cleaner than their earlier work, but I wasn't mad at it. It's like they blew up and could afford to add some turn-of-the-millenium shine on top of their already flawless production. Thievery Corp were on top of their game here, fusing dub, latin, and downtempo like nobody else, plus the addition of female vocals from the likes of Bebel Gilberto, Lou Lou and Pamela Bricker made the tracks that much sexier. Check "Le Monde," "Lebanese Blonde," "Mirror Conspiracy" and "So Com Voce," for taste. This was on repeat at the Metreon - chill vibes for days. Double vinyl reissue with gatefold sleeve.
