Reloop is proud to present its first digital mixing controller designed especially for Serato: Terminal Mix 4. By introducing the Terminal Mix 4, Reloop has broken new ground once again with this fully integrated 4-channel mixer offering a wealth of features, including 3-fold EQ with intelligent kill technique and filter modulation capabilities per channel. Any of the 4 channels can be easily assigned to the crossfader via the controls on the front panel, where you will also be able to adjust the crossfader curve.

In addition to the popular Trax Encoder, the master section is now equipped with four convenient management buttons which allow direct access to playlists, crates or further layout views without the need to touch your laptop. This means a desired track can be located and loaded instantly into any deck via the designated load buttons - a fader start* function can also be activated if desired.

As a further highlight, Reloop has developed brand new ultra-flat aluminium jog platters which with an impressive XXL diameter of 15.5 cm have also been enhanced with a non-slip vinyl-grip coating for even more control over your tracks. With a total of 3 modes (Pitch Bend/Vinyl/Quick Search) it's possible to easily switch between pitch correcting, scratching, or browsing through tracks on the fly. The entire transport section is fully equipped with rubberised buttons which offer a comfortable pressure point whilst also being extremely durable.

The performance section features an extensive 8 button layout which can be utilised over 2 separate layers for true versatility. On the first layer 4 hot cues can be fired off and 4 sample decks can be triggered simultaneously. Depending on the software used, other creative possibilities are available, for example the option of accessing hot cues/samples 5-8 on the second layer - or with future software updates this section can be enhanced even further with brand new performance modes (Cut'n'Slice) for live remixing.

The extensive FX section is equipped with 4 buttons, 3 rotary knobs, and 1 endless encoder to provide even more creative possibilities in the mix. The smart loop section also features 4 independent controls allowing users to quickly set beat-precise loops, adjust the size of the loops and even move the loops whilst in a live situation. Reloop also listened to the requests by many DJs and for the first time has integrated a 14 bit pitch fader with 100mm increments, allowing ultra-precise mixing and blending.

The audio section offers a vast array of connecting possibilities for your master PA (including balanced output jacks), a zone function and a DJ booth system. Also very practical are the 2 headphones connections (6.3 mm & 3.5 mm) which can be adjusted with a 1-band equalizer. A microphone connection with a 1-fold EQ for MCs, hosts or singers has also been integrated and can be adjusted via a flexible routing switching system. Furthermore, it's possible to connect a turntable, CD/MP3 player, or iPhone/iPod to the Aux input which can be routed to the master or even software! LAB REVIEW

With the VCI-400, Vestax has decided to forgo the software specific hardware design and go for the an all-out controller that is fully customizable and works well with all the most popular DJ programs (Traktor, Serato DJ Intro, Virtual DJ, Abelton, DJay, and more). Vestax has definitely shifted the focus to high quality functionality with enough controls and features to accommodate future software updates.

The VCI-400 does an excellent job in delivering both the flashy deluxe features (lighted pad controls, LED channel meters, wide assortment of controls) and the solid foundational features (high quality jog controls, XLR outputs, excellent soundcard). In addition, the design is very intuitive with all the controls placed seemingly perfectly and marked clearly. Although there is a lot going on, it all makes sense like the placement of the tempo controls with the deck select directly underneath.

OUR OPINION

Although the price point may be barrier for the beginner or novice DJ, we can see this being a longtime workhorse for the working DJ. The feature set eliminates the need for MIDI add-ons and with its high-quality soundcard and XLR outputs, you're ready to plug it into a club system. In addition, we just love the true 4 channel layout, the filter knobs, and the layout (it definitely borrows from a traditional turntable-mixer setup).

How long has it been since we first got wind of Doom x Ghostface collabo? It finally happens, and the duo's first official release, "Victory Laps(1)," is out on limited-edition pic disc with Serato control tone on the flip. Madlib's remix(2) of the song was previously available as a part of the Doom x Akomplice boxset (on red cassette), and this 12" contains instrumentals to both versions. Act fast, highly recommended.

Fool's Gold celebrates its 4-year anniversary with the release of a super limited-edition (only 2000 worldwide!) set, which includes 4 highly sought after, previously unreleased remixes spread over 2 clear marble yellow LPs with serato control tones on the flip and a pair of exclusive slipmats stamped with the iconic Fool's Gold logo. As far as the music is concerned, the label includes Tony Senghore's wicked take on Lil B's "Freeze(1)," a half-time mix of Kindom's "Mind Reader(2)," a club-ready version of Cubic Zirconia's "afterhours jam" "Night Or Day(3)" and Amen Brother's 808s-and-breaks-heavy remix of DJ Gant-Man's "Juke Dat Girl(4)." AktiMate Mini is an active 2-way system negating the need for a separate amplifier as it has its own 40 Watt per channel amplifier built in to one of the speakers. In early versions the iPod dock was clearly visible - it is now concealed under a cover flap on the top of the active speaker. This dock also accepts the iPhone. The rear panel jack plug accommodates the connection to an MP3 or MP4 player or your computer via the 3.5 mm input. RCA stereo inputs permit connection of any hi-fi source product, e.g. CD Player, tuner etc. RCA stereo outputs to allow for the connection of a subwoofer. It is important to note that the USB connection can only be used for charging purposes.

Should the desire be to run a second pair of AktiMate Mini speakers, the RCA outputs accommodate daisy chaining which will provide independent volume control in each location. It has composite video output for connection to a larger monitor (handy if your iPod has photo storage or video clips). Please note that this feature is suitable only for earlier edition iPods to version 5 and Nano version 2. The AktiMate Mini is Ideal for use as your television speakers - they are fully shielded, so placement alongside a monitor presents no problem. A voltage selector switch permits a change of voltage should you wish to travel to a part of the world using different mains voltages. The volume control on the front panel allows ease of operation - a control which, with a simple press, takes the system into standby.

The AktiMate Mini has remote control and comes with a small but perfectly formed handset! The remote handset not only controls the volume of the speakers plus mute and standby, but also all basic functions of an iPod. AktiMate Mini comes complete with a connecting speaker cable, a 3.5mm cable, rubber feet, an iPod accessory pack although this contains a selection only - the cradle which comes with your iPod fits neatly into the AktiMate dock. OUR OPINION

This is the updated MKII version. Main differences between MKI and MKII: small 1/8" and big 1/4" headphone socket, master volume boost when using an external power supply, new adjust knobs for the platter sensitivity, new optional Vestax digital crossfader, and new analog throughput for mic/aux input.

The VCI-300 is quickly becoming the dj standard for all-in-one, controller based DJing. The intuitive mixer-like layout, the touch sensitive JOG wheels, and the Serato Itch software, all combine to give the user an experience that is very similar to djing on a turntable-based Serato setup. We've seen many DJs use the VCI-300, and everything from the djs movements to the music manipulation is very similar. In addition, because of its size, weight (less than 9 lbs.), and all-in-one design (the interface is built-in), the VCI-300 is one of the most portable djing solutions available. Recommended.

Vestax and Serato have joined forces. Sharing their technology and compiled feedback from Pro DJs and users from around the world, they have created a dedicated DJ USB MIDI / Audio system and software offering absolute control.

The VCI-300 is a dedicated USB MIDI controller for the included Serato DJ software. It also comes with a built in audio interface with standard 4in/4out and headphone connection, which means all you need for DJing is the VCI-300, a laptop and a set of headphones.

New features such as the [Emergency Thru Switch] offers an option of using the VCI-300 with the provided ITCH software or without the computer connected if you simply want to play music from your external CD or MP3 player. Another is the new weight reduced JOG wheel and the adjustable JOG wheel torque mechanism to avoid vibration from low frequency feedback.

HIGH RESOLUTION CONTROL

The VCI-300 can control more than 90 parameters and functions of the included Serato software with high resolution MIDI signals sent via USB. The DDJ-S1 offers familiarity, innovation and pure controllerism to maximize performance with Serato ITCH software (which is included). A Plug and Play connection via USB, a unique XLR input/output to connect directly to professional PA equipment, and a microphone talk-over feature makes the DDJ-S1 the perfect home or mobile DJ set-up. The space for laptop keyboards under the controller eliminates set-up issues, and places the screen in the DJs line of sight at all times.The controller's layout inherits tried and tested Pioneer functionality, offering excellent operability. The controls include an alphabetic search function for quick song selection and a slip mode for momentary looping, reversing and scratching without losing the song position on return. A dedicated effect control area allows you to add Serato ITCH DJ FX to your mixes, while the master and channel level meters allow you to monitor while adjusting the volume. A Playing Address feature displays track progression on an LED display, while the needle search function allows DJs to quickly skip through a song to a preferred playback point.

Updated version now utilizes our Colored Checkerboard design (clear with colored buttons), which allows Serato users to better match their unibody notebooks, allows the caps light to be visible, and increases the visibility. In addition, the cover has been updated to include the shortcuts for the SP-6 Sample Player and Scratch LIVE 2. This custom keyboard cover is specifically designed for use with Serato and features the standard QWERTY layout with each key marked with Serato's corresponding controls (including the control and option controls). The major controls are clearly marked and the contrast colors are bright for easy recognition. This definitely makes using and learning functions such as cue points, bending, and looping much easier.
