Lab Overview

Debut album from North Ireland teen sensation. Rough Trade scored big with this touching debut from a very young singer songwriter named SOAK. Born in 1997, she started making waves in the local Derry scene with songs of adolescence, family, and isolation at the age of 14 (teenagers, am I right?!). However, these are not simple ideas laid to tape. The complexity behind the music is that of an old soul more so than someone in their late teens. Musically we can hear a little bit of Beach House, Joanna Newsom, Songs Of Green Pheasant, and maybe a little Feist. The overall tone is pure beauty with powerful melodies and instrumentation that recalls any faded memories from your youth... kind of one of those albums that when it happens to be raining outside on your day off and everything just sort of makes sense once the first note hits. First pressing on white vinyl. Recommended.
